CONICYT representantatives visit the CARE and emphasize their advances

An excellent impression had the main representatives and responsibles of the contestable fund, who met for more than four hours with researchers of the Aging and Regeneration Center

At 9:30 a.m. took place the first of several official visits that will realize the representatives of CONICYT's Basal Financing Program in order to know how the new Research Centers, that rely on the support of these public funds, are being organized.

The Center’s director, Dr. Nibaldo C. Inestrosa, together with the main researchers Dra. Francisca Bronfman, Dr. Enrique Brandan, Dr. Alfonso Gonzalez, Dr. Miguel Bronfman, Dr. Carlos Vio, Dr. Juan Larraín y Dr. Juan Pablo García-Huidobro, made a presentation in which they showed their work, the main results and goals that the Center of Aging and Regeneration, CARE, prosecutes, considered one of most outstanding of the country.

In the meeting - that extended for more than four hours - the retinue integrated by Ms Jani Brouwer, Coordinator of the Basal Financing Program, Mr Juan Soto, ordered of Follow-up and Evaluation, and Carlos Smith, ordered of the Program Finances, visited the Center facilities, having the possibility to interact with the members of the different laboratories.

The Program Coordinator, Jani Brouwer, explained: "The idea of these meetings is to see how the Centers are being constituted in the practice", subject in which, according to the CONICYT representative, the CARE has a lot of work in advanced. “The continuity of this Center with the previous one, undoubtedly will help and enrich from the applied, the work done previously, which is a profit respect of others that are just starting".

CARE is the second Center visited by the commission, which only had words of praise and gratefulness. "The impression we had to ourselves is extremely positive and we are grateful for the reception offered to us in the laboratories. For us to know them means an extra stimulus to continue carrying out our labor in the Program ", declared Brouwer.

In addition, the commission showed to be very interested in the work that is being developed at the CARE. "It is a Center that promises very much, it’s not about researchers who are locked-up in laboratories, but they go out and work to get applied results ", the Coordinator of the Program said, emphasizing specially the human team.
