In January, this year, was the own mayor who proposed Dr. Inestrosa as the person who had to receive the prize and the idea was approved unanimously by the Municipal Council.
During the ceremony, mayor Quinteros emphasized the contribution realized by Dr. Inestrosa to the scientific research and being an example for the community of Puerto Montt: " We want that Puerto Montt to keep on delivering big persons to the country, what we want is more 'nibaldos inestrosas'. We know that there are, they are in our schools, they have the capacities, and its our duty as society to give them the opportunities that they need in order that they can develop their talents and interests", said.
The renowned scientist declared himself very satisfied with the nomination: "I think that its important to have a prize from the city that saw me born, in which one was educated". Once received his prize, the researcher emphasized the need of the Monte Verde archaeological site to be taken seriously by the puertomonttean community, since it represents a scientific instance of world renown.
